Testo di "The Swamp":
In the swamp
the old man hears a cry
His hair is full of brambles
As he turns and looks down
A little girl
Only six years old
Stumbling and hungry
So he takes her inside
Where have you been little wanderer?
Why are you down in the swamp?
I’ve been alone for so many years
What do you want?
She sleeps for days
She tosses and she cries
He tends her through her fever
With leeches and mud
He bows his head
Convinced that she will die
Thinking of his family
Then she awakens and looks his way
Grandpa your beard is so long
Please ask the creatures to come here
And sing me a song
Little girl
I think you should move on
Your family’s surely waiting
For you in the town
And it’s a shame
My little girl is gone
But it would be my honor
To walk you back home
Grandpa my family is dead and gone
Angels up there in the sky
I want to stay in the swamp with you
Grandpa, can I?
In the swamp
The old man hears a call
Death is on his shoulder
So he goes to lie down
The little girl
Twenty-five years old
Holds his hand till morning
And sings him a song
This is our swamp it’s the sweetest place
Covered in brambles and mud
All of the creatures come bless this place
Fill it with love
